Lila Streether is an artist who paints at her home studio in Hallatrow, at the foot of the Mendip Hills. She gets inspiration for her paintings from the many wild plants and views of the area. She paints botanical subjects, insects, animals, and landscapes in watercolour; pen drawings, some pen & wash; collages in mixed media. The watercolours are often with black backgrounds with emphasis on light, to give a 3-D effect.
She is a member of the Bath Society of Botanical Artists and of the South West Society of Botanical Artists; She ran a studio shop at the Black Swan Arts Centre, Frome, for three years, where she painted and sold paintings, and did many commissions. She has regularly exhibited for a number of years in many venues in the UK and Eire and has sold paintings which have made their way to various countries.
Lila achieved a Diploma from the Society of Botanical Artists (London) in 2013 after completing a two-year course. She often takes part in community projects and art trails.
The One Craft Gallery will be showing some of her paintings and cards which will be for sale.
