Joanna Briar is a printmaker living in Somerset, UK. Joanna has been printing for five years working from her home studio and she works with lino and wood to create her printing blocks which are then printed onto Somerset paper or Japanese Shoji paper using a vintage book press. Joanna also works with acrylic and metal plates to create drypoint etchings.
Joanna’s work reflects the beautiful countryside surrounding her home and quotations that inspire her. She loves carving into the surface of lino and wood and exploring the different marks that can be made. There is nothing more exciting than lifting the paper for the first time on a freshly-inked block and seeing what impressions have been created.
Throughout the months of September and October, One Craft is delighted to be showing a selection of Joanna’s prints and cards in the gallery.
