One Craft’s wood turner Phil Davis has recommeded two wonderful local events for wood enthusiasts!
The Oak Fair takes place on 25th and 26th August over the bank holiday weekend. This is a special event for those interested in woodcraft, timber, conservation and the countryside. There is something that will appeal to all members of the family including over 200 exhibitors, events in our arenas including The British Heavy Horse Logger’s team who compete a number of challenges over the weekend, Mere Down Falconry who bring a variety of birds of prey that put on amazing displays and Have A Go Archery which is available to everyone to try!
There is also The Great Big Tree Climbing Company providing tree climbing and zip wires for the younger visitors to experience and Avalon Axes who demostrate axe throwing as well as letting all visitors have a go! Market Square will be buzzing with local food and drink producers with the Childrens Area situated nearby that will have a range of workshops for all family members to take part in.

Yandles Open day is taking place on 7th and 8th September. Yandles has, over its 150 years history become a firm favourite with Woodworkers. This unique Company runs a Sawmill, Woodworking Centre, Gallery, Hobbies Shop and Café from its site in beautiful Somerset. With many years’ experience in the timber trade, Yandles now deals with timber from all over the world, from green oak beams to exotic and native timbers.
