This year, the Somerset Arts Week Festival takes place between 23 September and 8th October with 120 venues participating in this annual event.
Somerset Arts Week is now firmly established as one of the biggest showcases celebrating the visual arts in the South West with over 350 artists taking part over the 16 day event. Alternating between Open Studios and Festival years, the theme of this year’s festival is ‘Prospect’ giving rise to the notion of space and potential and many of the participating artists have embraced this theme in their shows and events.
With many venues around the large county of Somerset there is plenty to see this year and in Shepton Mallet, artist David Ward has created a sound installation ‘A Landscape of Objects’ in the gardens of Kilver Court. The nearby towns of Wells and Glastonbury also have a great selection of events taking place as part of the festival.
