New Stained Glass Windows for Ashwick Church.
The Church of St. James in Ashwick, near Oakhill, has some new
stained glass windows.
They are in The Lady Chapel and are in memory of Clifford and Olive Padfield. They were regular worshippers at the church and most generous in their financial support.
Clifford was a lay preacher for 12 years until his death in 1976.
Olive was a long serving member of the choir and died in 2006.
She loved animals and always kept a donkey. This inspired the theme for the stained glass windows ,” The Flight Into Egypt.”
The windows have been designed and made by Fran Davies in Stoke St. Michael. Fran has been making stained glass windows since 1978. She has completed many hundreds of commissions both sacred and secular; including memorial windows in Priddy Church.
The windows in Ashwick Church will be dedicated by The Archdeacon of Wells Cathedral at a special service on July 8th at 6.30 p.m.
